About Terri Weiner
Terri Weiner has been an Occupational Therapist for over 25 years. She is a dedicated therapist who always puts her clients and their needs at the center of her practice. She is known for her innovative strategies and has a breadth of experience working throughout the large scope of Occupational Therapy practice.
Terri began her Occupational Therapy career working in the mental health arena, then transitioned to a premiere suburban rehabilitation hospital. She spearheaded an Adapted Driving Program where she developed an evaluation tool to determine road readiness for individuals who suffered traumatic brain injury, stroke, and spinal cord injury. Terri was then promoted to the OT Department’s Program Coordinator for the state of the art Brain Injury Program. She collaborated with psychologists to run daily groups and helped individuals develop the transition skills needed to return to the community. There, Terri gained a foundation for working with neurologically involved young adults and their families and assisting them through life transitions.
While raising her own family, Terri also began working in private practice and school-based settings providing Occupational Therapy to students in pre-K through post high school. She developed innovative programming for her school district including establishing district-wide social skills groups. She also provided training to teachers and support staff focusing on sensory processing strategies and fine motor skill development. Her practice continues to focus on helping students with executive function weaknesses, social skills mentoring, fine motor development, and sensory processing issues.
Throughout her experience in the public sector, Terri noticed that Occupational Therapists were limited by both time constraints and school district limitations on the scope of Occupational Therapy available to students. In addition, as many of her students aged out of the school system, they no longer received Occupational Therapy services. The loss of this support, when it was so critically needed, inspired Terri to begin Transition Steps to Success.
Terri comes to you today with an open mind and a helpful heart, ready to provide clients with the strategies to unlock their individual potential to achieve a life that is satisfying and independent.
